The City of Charleston Municipal Court has city wide jurisdiction over most criminal cases where the maximum penalty does not exceed 90 days in jail, with a few exceptions.[divider_line]
A misdemeanor case is most likely in this court if the arresting agency is Charleston Police Department Most crimes in this court are prosecuted by the City Prosecutor or the arresting officer.
Timothy Kulp was a prosecutor in this court in the early 1980s and has continually practiced in this court since then.
